Miami-Dade County Public Schools Head Start / Early Head Start Program

Early Head Start (EHS) Classroom Positions:

Early Head Start Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or CDA with Focus on Infant and Toddler Development or FCCPC Birth through Five
  • DCF 45 hours with 5 in Emergent Literacy or Early Literacy

Early Head Start Assistant Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • DCF 45 hours with 5 in Emergent Literacy or Early Literacy
  • CDA with Focus on Infant and Toddler Development or FCCPC Birth through Five
  • Additional pre-employment requirements

Head Start (HS) Classroom Positions:

Head Start Educator Requirements:

  • AA or BA in Early Childhood Education with Preschool track (18 semester hours in Early Childhood Education) and CDA with Focus on Preschool Development or FCCPC Birth through Five
  • DCF 45 hours with 5 in Emergent Literacy or Early Literacy
  • Additional pre-employment requirements

Head Start Assistant Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • DCF 45 hours with 5 in Emergent Literacy or Early Literacy
  • CDA with Focus on Infant and Toddler Development or FCCPC Birth through Five or
    Notice of Acknowledgment of Credential Requirement*
  • Additional pre-employment requirements

Case Specialist Positions:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent that includes a minimum of 15 semester hours in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with families
  • Additional pre-employment requirements

*Notice of Acknowledgement of Credential Requirement only applies to HS Assistant Positions where the candidate agrees to complete the required CDA within 18 months of hire. If CDA is not obtained in the required timeframe, the employee will be terminated.
